And The White-Hot Spotlight Shines On...Omaha:
(Free registration required, dammit.) Apparently, Spin Magazine has decided that Omaha, Nebraska is the new [pick one: Seattle, Minneapolis, Athens, Chapel Hill] owing to the prevalence of acoustically agreeable basements in the vicinity. Their case in point are Tilly And The Wall who, sans drummer, make rhythm happen in their music by employing the apparently non-atrophied-since-childhood-lessons tap dancing skills of Jamie, their "star percussionist." Yeah, they are in fact infectious, and yeah, we'll be putting them on Altrok Radio. (Poke around www.tillieandthewall.com and you'll find out how to hear the whole album, MP3 style.) It's a shame Spin can only spotlight one town at a time, because there are a lot of towns in this hyar world, and a whole lot of music being made in 'em - but we won't begrudge 360,000-strong Omaha their moment in the sun.
