A Injury? An Opportunity?:
Ah, Shane MacGowan...sustaining facial injuries in a barroom brawl. Since not everyone knows him on sight, when he wakes from reconstructive surgery, will he find (to his horror) they've accidentally fixed his teeth?

Gene Simmons And Dave Navarro Cover Prodigy:
The Shins are right - the world has inverted. Though bizarre enough (yes, the cover is of "Firestarter") my headline consciously ignores the appearance on Simmons' new album, "Asshole", of Bob Dylan, Frank Zappa, and ... um, I hear Gene Simmons is on it, too. (By the way, though the title is good, I think the upcoming Thermals album has it beat.)

Don't Call It A Comeback:
The link above goes to news from FMQB.com that there's a new Cure album in the works. Meanwhile, Prince has a new record that's interesting enough that I may play something from it on Altrok Radio, unless I hear it on a more mainstream station beforehand...and of course, Morrissey has a carefully orchestrated comeback percolating (if he can evade the Department of Homeland Security.)

But there's something about the 80's that disturbs me about this trend, and that's this - remember that, in the 80's, there were hit records from a number of '60's stars - i.e. James Brown, Aretha Franklin, and the Beach Boys? Well here we are in the '00s, and it looks like it's happening all over again...still, since Sonic Youth and They Might Be Giants have new records arriving, maybe it's just that these folks, having really only had marginal success (except Prince, of course) never got tired of making good music. Or not. (And I still maintain that the eighties were more fun than the seventies and the nineties combined...though the '00's are giving them all a run for their money in all departments except politics. Which brings us back to the eighties.)
