A recent Monday marked the passing of TV's best and brightest comedy-drama: Ally McBeal. Yes, that's right, Stiffy Biceptz, your Muscle-Bound, Ultra-Tan, Dr. Smarty-Pants, High Octane Fueled Rocker LOVED Ally McBeal. Call me sensitive, effeminate, Mike Piazza-like; it will only make the babes swarm more intensely. Bring it on.

Fact is, Ally McBeal was a most intelligent show, a most human show, a most alternative show, which is probably why it couldn't keep the public's attention for longer than it did.

What made Ally McBeal such a landmark show, in addition to the unusual stories and wonderfully quirky characters was that Music played such a central role. Not since Northern Exposure has music - real songs by real artists - been featured as a main character in each episode. Barry White, Al Green, Patty LaBelle, Sting, this show just rocked.

And my vote for Diva? Vonda Shepard. How many other shows on TV had a string of CD's featuring original music that sold that many copies? I loved her voice, her soul, her everything.

Music was the pixie dust that made this show fly, and I will miss it greatly. Bygones...
