ALTROK Ordinals 32

The Church - After Everything Now This (Thirsty Ear)
Jeff says: Australia’s foremost purveyors of psychedelic pop are back with a brand new album. [And you should buy it solely on principle. -Ed.]

Jools Holland’s Big Band Rhythm & Blues - Jools Holland’s Big Band Rhythm & Blues (Rhino)
Jeff says: Jools was the keyboard player in Squeeze. He’s been a TV host in England (and the US briefly). And he’s a band-leader. This new CD features his big band and guests: Sting, George Harrison (his last recording before dying last year), Paul Weller, Joe Strummer, Dr John, Stereophonics, Suggs (from Madness), Eric Bibb, Mark Knopfler, Van Morrison, Chris Difford (also formerly of Squeeze), John Cale (formerly of Velvet Underground), Steve Winwood, Marc Almond (formerly of Soft Cell), Mick Hucknall (from Simply Red), Paul Carrack (who replaced Jools in Squeeze), Taj Mahal, Jamiroquai, and Eric Clapton. To name a few. Yes, we will be hearing this record for a very long time.
