ALTROK Ordinals 10

Suran Song In Stag - Cowboys & Indians (Cruel Music)
Jeff says: From right here in NJ! [Yeah, that's where we are. You godda problem wit dat? -Ed.] Suran Song's latest "agit-prop" offering is a 2 disc set of some originals mixed in with a bunch of interesting and surprising yet rather appropriate covers. The trio covers Gang Of 4, 10,000 Maniacs, Chill, Duran Duran, Lords Of The New Church, Pretenders, Jam, and Kristin Hersh. And surpringly they fit in perfectly with the originals and their underlying socio-politcal themes; it's a concept album of sorts.

Graham Parker - Deepcut To Nowhere (Razor & Tie)
Jeff says: Soon to be released new album from one of the original British angry young pub-rockers. He's been making records since 1976 -- NINETEEN SEVENTY FREAKIN' SIX!! I know people younger than his career! Anyway, this new record is great GP. Probably not "classic" like "Squeezing Out Sparks" is, but much better than some of the others. He's still angry about some things ("I'll Never Play Jacksonville Again"), lovelorn ("Depend On Me"), sneeringly funny ("High Horse", "Socks N' Sandals")...pretty much the same way he's always been.
